Testing of Edinburgh’s trams is to start next summer.

The first vehicle is expected to arrive from Spain in April. Testing of the trams is carried out in three stages. The first stage sees them tested in the factory, then on a test track before finally being tested on a real-time system.

The first section of Edinburgh’s tram network to go live will be a one mile stretch between Gogar and Edinburgh Airport and this will be used to test the first vehicles.

It is possible that the trams may also be tested on Croydon’s tram network.
