Japanese rail passengers benefit from huge fare reductions

Discounts of up to 27.7% are to be made available for passengers purchasing tickets for Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen services on weekdays and holidays between October 31st and January 11th.

The fare reductions announced by Central Japan Railway Co. and West Japan Railway Co. are aimed at filling seats that would otherwise remain vacant.

First class passengers between Shin-Osaka and Hataka will receive the biggest discount.A single ticket drops to 14,950 yen,which is 5,730 yen cheaper than the normal fare.
