Bus is no substitute for rail service

Airport chief Amanda McMillan has blasted the decision to axe plans for a rail link to Glasgow airport, and substitute it with a bus link, during yesterday’s address to Holyrood’s Transport Committee.

Calling the decision “a step backwards” Ms McMillan continued by saying “We’re extremely disappointed about the decision to cancel the project. There’s a pressing need to improve surface access to and from the airport, otherwise it’s the city and airport that will suffer”

The decision to cancel the rail link on cost grounds was made last month, which prompted much anger from some local businesses.
