Myanmar and China discuss rail link

china-flag-smallMyanmar and China are in discussions regarding constructing a rail link between the two countries. The proposed rail line would connect Myanmar’s Shan state with China’s Yunnan province.

The announcement follows a recent visit to Myanmar by officials from China’s Railway Ministry. It is thought that three possible routes for the railway have already been chosen, with construction costs estimated at approximately $500m.
