South Croydon station goes green

CCTVNew CCTV cameras and lighting at South Croydon station will be powered by solar energy produced by 42 photovoltaic solar panels.

Other improvements at South Croydon station, as part of the £435,000 project, include secure parking for 36 cycles (an increase of 80%) , a new path for pedestrians and cyclists, that replaces a muddy path, and larger parking bays for disabled drivers have also been introduced during the station forecourt’s refurbishment.

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, said: ‘I warmly welcome the fact that South Croydon station has embraced green technology as part of this fantastic raft of improvements for passengers including brand new cycle racks.’
