Plans for new station in Yorkshire

Impression of how new station will look.
Network Rail and Metro have submitted plans for a new station to Bradford council.
The new station, if approved, would be built at Apperley Bridge, on the Leeds to Shipley route. Consisting of 2 platforms, a 300 space car park and a new access road, the station would be served by class 333s. The trains already pass the site of the proposed station.
In the longer term there are further plans for a station at Kirkstall Forge and further extensions to station car parks. These schemes are part of a £16.74m priority project by the Regional Transport Board.
Warrick Dent, area general manager for Network Rail, added: “This is an incredibly busy route and this new station is a vital part of our plans to continue to build a bigger and better railway in Yorkshire.“
If approval is granted for the new station it could be open in 2012.
