UK Railway Trade Mission to Budapest
RIA is working with UK Trade & Investment to arrange a railway sector trade mission to Hungary taking place between 8 and 10 March. With strong support from the British Embassy in Budapest the event will allow UK companies the opportunity to present technology and expertise to an audience of invited professionals from the key organisations. Both public and private sector clients from the Hungarian rail industry, including national operator MAV and the local operator BTC, will be represented. There will be chance for interaction during a number of networking sessions and optional opportunity for pre-arranged meeting tailored to your particular target clients.
Programme
The outline programme of activity for the event is as follows
Monday 8 March – Arrival in Budapest
17:00-19:00 Welcome reception at the British Embassy
Hosted by the UK Ambassador and Head of Commercial Section, local invitees include managers from the state rail company (MAV), Budapest Transport Company, National Development Office.
Tuesday 9 March
9:00-16:00 Morning & Afternoon seminars with two topics:
Topic 1 Consultation Activity: policy, strategy, regulation, restructuring, procurement models etc. Could cover such areas as company organisation, managing suburban traffic, PPP projects, train leasing.
Topic 2 Equipment & Implementation: Planning and constructing, overhead line systems, metro and trams, electronic ticketing, rolling stock maintenance, accessibility, materials & technology
The topics are stated areas of interest for the Hungarian clients covering a wide range of specialisms, but other topics may be added. There will be a lunch and mid session breaks to allow interaction with local delegates and the UKTI commercial team.
Wednesday 10 March
Return to UK or potential to follow up with delegates from the seminar or other contacts in Budapest. The Embassy in Budapest is able to arrange targeted meetings in advance through the OMIS system, but these will be subject to an additional charge.
Travel/Accommodation
Delegates will need to make their own travel arrangements for outbound and return journeys once RIA has confirmed participation and the programme is finalised. We will recommend suitable travel plans to delegates once the programme is agreed. Accommodation will be reserved for UK delegates for settlement on departure.
