Japanese rail companies team up to increase global market share
Hitachi, which constructed the Javelin trains for HS1, is to team up with Mitsubishi in an effort to increase global market share for new rolling stock and infrastructure.
Mitsubishi will bring its extensive knowledge of track and overall project management to the agreement and Hitachi will mainly concentrate on rolling stock and signalling.
Hitachi is the preferred bidder for the UK’s ICE project, a project that was postponed in the run up to the general election. Hitachi say that they are still waiting to hear from the British government regarding the future of IEP, but their status as preferred bidder has not changed.
