Station billboards scan passengers
Digital advertising billboards that are fitted with cameras, to distinguish the age group and gender of passengers looking at them, are being rolled out at a number of railway stations in Japan. The information is then used to tailor adverts to suit passengers passing through the stations at certain times of day.
The year long trial makes use of face recognition software and some passengers have compared it to the Tom Cruise film Minority Report.
