Revamp of Derby station to go ahead after alternative funding is secured
Alternative funding for the revamp of Derby station has been secured, following the Government’s decision to not offer £800,000 towards the scheme from their Single Programme funds.
To save the much needed scheme, that will include a redesign of the station’s car park, taxi ranks and bus stops, the contribution from the European Regional Development fund has been increased from £875,000 to £1.5m. The council has also increased the amount of money it was going to invest from its transport plan budget from £49,000 to £158,000. In addition it will provide another £75,000 of its money towards the £1.78m project.
Network Rail is also making a contribution of £100,000 and work is expected to commence later this year.
