First Grand Central HST receives MTU engine

The Rail Media Group was at Brush today to witness the lowering in of the first MTU engine into a Grand Central HST power car.

At present there are 2  GC power cars ,43068 and 43080,  at Brush and they are expected to leave for Brush-Barclay’s Kilmarnock works in late August. Once at Kilmarnock the 2 power cars will be reunited with a set of  GC carriages that have been refurbished at the works.

It is envisaged that the first refurbished GC HST set will enter service in September and all 6 power cars will have been refurbished at Brush by March next year.
