Duke of Gloucester to return to Great Central Railway

The Duke of Gloucester is to return to the Great Central Railway for the heritage line’s October gala.

It will be the first time that 71000 has been to the railway since its departure in 1987, shortly after it was restored from Barry condition.

The 3 day gala, which runs 8th-10th October, will also feature 246 Morayshire, 61994 The Great Marquess, 69023 Joem, 1744 and 78019 which will carry the number 78054. It is also hoped that 45305 will be in steam and 47406 is listed as the reserve locomotive.
