Unipart Rail wins Bogie contract extension with Porterbrook

Unipart Rail is pleased to announce a contract extension to overhaul 455 Bogies for Porterbrook Leasing Company until December 2017.

The contract extension is for the continuation of supply, of 455-bogie overhaul out of the Doncaster site, which equates to approximately 200 bogies per year and builds upon an already firm relationship with Porterbrook.

A significant amount of investment has been made by both parties to improve the quality of bogies, which minimizes in service failures and improves customer service, which has effectively given them a ‘half life’ upgrade.

Unipart Rail has continuously improved the targets set by Porterbrook. A key element of the existing and future arrangement is the focused improvement of the subcomponents of the bogie to improve reliability and long-term quality. Due to these successful improvements, Porterbrook agreed to extend the contract with Unipart Rail until 2017.
