Eurostar poised to place order with Siemens

Following a board meeting earlier today , Eurostar is poised to order Velaro-D trains from Siemens in a contract worth around €600m.

The German train builder was selected as preferred bidder in June and the contract is expected to be for 10 trains that are approximately 400 m long, the same length as trains currently in use.

Eurostar will become the first affiliate of SNCF to order  non-French high speed trains.
