Preparations underway for ICE visit to St Pancras

Deutsche Bahn will carry out evacuation trials in the Channel Tunnel in the next few days, ahead of an ICE train being displayed at London St Pancras on October 19th.

DB are hopeful of commencing services linking London and Germany by the latter half of 2013.

It is believed that ICE set 4685, one of the 2 sets that are to be involved in the trials, will be the one on display to the press at St Pancras. A  decision on running trains of less than 400 m through the Channel Tunnel will be taken once the evacuation procedures have been examined.

The 2 sets arrived at Calais-Fréthun last night and 4685 has been spotted with vinyls proclaiming  ’ Presenting the ICE in London 19th October 2010′
