National Express reveal their class 379 Electrostar to the press

Today, at Bombardier’s Derby works, National Express revealed their new class 379 Electostar to the press.

After a period of testing in the Czech Republic the first 379 will commence test running in the UK from next January, with an entry into passenger service scheduled for next March.

Speaking to Jonathan Webb, the Rail Media Group’s senior journalist, a National Express spokesman said that next week National Express will take delivery of a class 379 driving simulator  and from next May there should be 20 class 379s operating on the Stansted Express service.

During today’s event 379001 gave demonstration rides over Bombardier’s test track.

The order for the 30×4 class 379s was signed in April last year.
