More steam power for Ecclesbourne Valley Railway

The 8F locomotive group’s Austerity saddle tank ‘The Duke’ has arrived at the EVR, with a support coach, where the locomotive will be restored. Restoration is expected to commence next year.

Maroon liveried 48624 is also expected to put in an appearance, once it has visited the Great Central Railway. The next steam locomotive to arrive will be 78019, which will haul the opening train to Duffield next spring.

The EVR has a wide selection of preserved diesel locomotives, including a class 20, class 31 and various DMU vehicles, along with resident steam locomotive Ferrybridge 3.
