Network Rail launches procurement process for ERTMS on Great Western Main Line

Network Rail is inviting expressions of interest from suppliers to install a European Railway Traffic Management System on the Great Western Main Line.

It is envisaged that stage 1 of the work will commence next year, with a completion date of 2014, and will involve 3 suppliers being appointed to a framework agreement. The contract is thought to be worth approximately £150m.

Following the successful launch of ERTMS on the Cambrian route last month, the GWML will become the first main line to use the signalling system in the UK.
