China expresses interest in HS2 contracts

China has shown interest in bidding for contracts relating to construction of the proposed HS2 line.

China’s prime minister Wen Jiabao begins a three day visit to the UK on Friday and is expected to visit the MG factory at Longbridge , owned by Shanghai Automotive, during his stay.

The country has already constructed, or is in the process of constructing, 100,000 miles of high speed line and believes its expertise would be of great benefit to the UK.
